It's incredible to think that we only have 65 school days remaining in this school year (as of February 1st). Every year it seems to go by faster.
7th and 8th grade math have been working on algebraic concepts, factoring polynomials, and solving for variables. In Reading, we are reviewing literary elements and reading nonfiction selections. The emphasis in English has been on writing. In Science, students are learning about ecology. Next, we will start a unit on the Earth and the Solar System. In Social Studies, we are focusing on current events.
Please ask your student about their AR progress. Midquarter is upon us, so students should be at 50+% of their AR goal. Congratulations to Michaela, Amber, and Makayla - they have already met their AR goals for 3rd quarter....and keep on reading!
The students have decided to not have a Valentine party. Instead, they want to have a 'Friday the 13th' party! More information about the party will be sent home soon.
The 7th/8th grade Academic Bowl is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25th at Kirbyville Middle School. We will have tryouts soon and students who qualify will be bringing home a permission form.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school on my planning time from 10:10-11:00 at 683-2046, or email me at [email protected].
